The story behind The Eye Of The Photographer

My name is Stéphane and I live in Paris.

I have been passionate about photography for more than 23 years. I discovered this art after having pushed the door of a bookstore specialized in Photo books. This one was located near my high school in Paris. I then began to buy many books from different photographers, but that was not enough. Two or three years later I borrowed an APN (a really crappy one) from a friend to do my first session. Another friend – who was as new to the field as I was – had agreed to pose as a model. If the photos from this first session were not memorable, I nevertheless knew very clearly now that I wanted to continue. Since then I have done everything to improve myself in this field in order to be able to realize the ideas I had in mind.

Technical training:

Since then I have never stopped reading technical books, watching videos and DVDs to train or doing internships and sessions to improve my technique and my aesthetic sense. Today I am lucky to have worked with amateurs models who trusted me. I also work with international professionals (Japan, Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic etc…) who also work for the biggest brands.

As in all arts, the journey is endless and I probably still have a lot to learn. Fortunately, I have thousands of session ideas to realize and even more people and worlds to discover. So I hope to be able to share my passion with them and continue to progress.

The first steps in video:

In 2015 two friends and I met to shoot our first short film. Entitled “Une Nuit” (One night) you will find more information on it on the page dedicated to videos. I had already been able to try my hand at directing, filming and editing in various personal or professional projects. But here again, I was taking a step forward (in addition to going from cinephile to producer).

The name:

You may also be wondering where the name The Eye Of The Photographer comes from. Fans of Metallica and especially those of the series The twilight zone will have understood immediately the allusion to The Eye Of the Beholder. Only thing is I do more than contemplate. Since I try to fix these moments shared with the models, these visions created by my mind and what my eyes have contemplated, it made sense to change the name to The Eye Of The Photographer. To finish on this subject I use The Eye Of The Photographer because it also allows me to avoid that the different facets of my life mix too much without control on my part.

This site has several vocations to share my passion, show my artistic creations, find models. It is also intended to allow you to place orders with me and find customers for my photos. Anyway, and whatever your case may be, I hope you will enjoy what you see here.

Welcome to my world.

Stéphane
