This page should never have existed. Indeed, these two styles of shots are the ones I try to avoid as much as I can. Not for lack of respect or consideration for these styles, but in my head portraits and fashion photos don’t have much to do with my world or what I like to create. As time goes by, I realized that I may have made a mistake and that I have judged a little quickly styles that are often not so far from my speciality. More than a mandatory passage portraits and fashion photos can also be an interesting and enriching stylistic exercise.
Portraits
I have always considered portraits to be very easy. Especially for a photographer. Indeed, unlike the painter, I don’t really have a technical challenge here. The beauty of the photographs below is, in my opinion, solely due to the beauty of the models. Best case scenario, I placed the lights, guided their poses and pressed the button at the right time. All this does not really correspond to my definition of art, but it is difficult to dispute that portraiture is the queen category in photography. It is also difficult to deny that the portrait reveals something that other styles of photography do not. At least among the greatest portrait painters. A moment of privacy? A piece of the soul? Perhaps also sometimes something transcendent. Anyway, I’ll let you make your own opinion.
